Justin Maki is a Pop/Easy-Listening Artist based out of London, ON. Justin aims to create music that is beautiful, groovy, and thoughtful, and with it, enrich the lives of those who listen. He wields a rich voice and uses lush arrangements to transmit his messages of love, loss, adversity, mental health, global crises, and future musings. Japan born and Canadian bred, Justin has been sharing his colourful story through music since age 11 - his lifelong purpose.
Since officially committing to his solo career in 2012, he has played over 500 shows, released 2 albums ("The Acoustic Diaries: Fight" and "Long Time Coming"), and has gone on 3 Cross Canada Tours. He has also competed in several competitions, and won in Western University's Battle of the Bands in 2015, as well as the campus wide Western Voice competition in 2016.
Justin has shared the stage with industry heavy-weights like Monster Truck, The Mudmen, and The Sheepdogs. In 2019, Justin has so far secured a series of high-profile performances in Ontario, including opening for the Mudmen at Grand Bend on the Beach, playing at both Sea Otter Canada and Peak To Shore at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, ON, and at the closing party for Ontario Contact 2019 in St. Catherines, ON.
Justin is currently working with producer Matthew Johnston on his next record, which shifts Justin’s stylistic focus to the “Easy-Listening” spectrum, delving into Jazz, Funk, R&B, and Soul, while also infusing a “Pop” sheen. He hopes for a series of 2020 single releases.
With said releases, Justin plans to grow his fanbase in the 1,000s, and tour the complete record across Canada. Namely, he wants to qualify for Via Rail's Artist On Board Program and CTV’s The Launch, do a house show tour through "Home Routes", and play more festivals. On the horizon is more releases and constant touring around the world, including a visit back to Japan.
